Hospitality — George Town, Penang
Kafe Armenian
The brief
A daytime café occupying the front two bays of a heritage shophouse, serving a single rotating menu and a short list of coffees. The owners wanted a room that felt finished on the first day and stayed that way.
The approach
A single insertion: a freestanding service counter in lime plaster and brushed steel, sized so the original five-foot way reads through. The remaining shell — pressed-cement tiles, timber columns, the existing rear airwell — was cleaned and left alone. Seating is loose; there are no fixed booths.

A room that knows what it is. We have not had to change a single thing in a year of trading.
